Kara
We'd love to host the D6 conference here in sunny Dublin (!). Ok, scratch the sunny part of that sentence - still waiting for summer '07 to start. But the city has so much more than weather to offer. All the tech giants are here so you'd have a captive and informed audience. In particular we'd love to welcome you out to the Innovation Centre on the Intel Ireland in Leixlip campus as part of your visit.

Your conference would be so welcome in Dublin, we'd love to have you here. Thanks for the good vibes on your vid about my home town.

Tip for Walt: when taking a first mouthful of Guinness, you're expected to down half of the glass on first go. Lots more 'research' to be done there!

You forgot the Starbucks in the Liffey Valley shopping center, a very 'American' Mall.

But welcome to Ireland, from an expiate, and thanks for the link.

I would strongly recommend Dublin as centre for a European event. It is cheap to fly to from Europe. It is relatively cheap to stay in. We have ran events for IBM / Lotus User groups in Ireland and attracted people from all over the world (http://www.ilug2007.org)

If you want to combine technology and guinness when in dublin there's a pub right near where the maguires pub you were at, called the baggott inn. It has just open last week and has electronic guinness taps at your table so you can fill your own pints!

Sean, wasn't that "whippy thing they call a latte" that Walt had in his hand in Stephen's Green an Insomnia? ;-)

Welcome to Ireland guys, looking forward to EuroD. By the way, did you know that Dublin had 'D' postcodes - D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, D6 and so on...

There's some interesting chatter coming from mainstream Irish bloggers that you could integrate into any conference offering. The conversations among Irish techies about the rise of effective social media in Ireland would enlighten the gray hairs who typically drive the outward facade of Ireland, Inc by using only traditional channels of communications.

Hi Kara -

We DO have Starbucks here! There's a big one on Dame Street, another in the Dundrum Shopping Centre, and more on the way. If you're into your coffee, give the local alternatives a try: Cafe Sol, Insomnia, or some of the more "artisan" offerings.

Aside from that : the local tech community (which is rather vibrant) would LOVE to have the D conference come to Dublin. From a European perspective, other Europeans also love to come here - so it's a great location. Go for it - and let us know if you need any help from the local tech ies (see http://www.web2ireland.org/ for example).

Cheers, Sean
