Looks like the writer needs to do some research. Cabbage Patch Kids are still being played with by children today and have NEVER left toy stores since 1983. They are here to stay.

My son uses Club Penguin and chose to spend of his allowance so he can “buy” more stuff in Club penguin land.

Now he is fickle and is spending time elsewhere and it is unclear how long he is willing to spend his $6 a month to KEEP the stuff.

The social networking at Club Penguin seems minimal and not the reason for at least the kids I know.
