		<description>I think the merger presents consumers&#039; best chance of finally having everyone adopt a single open standard for instant messaging, in the same manner that we have today with email. All services would then be able to seamlessly exchange IMs, presence status, etc. 

I expect Google and others to successfully lobby the feds to mandate adoption by Y! and MSN, and then AIM, Skype, GTalk and others to join. Open standards will vastly facilitate innovation in IM.</description>
