Great snag on the Johnson memo.

It was quite revealing in that it demonstrates that Microsoft is considering new alternatives which may indeed result in a full acquisition of Yahoo, notwithstanding constant protests to the contrary.

Microsoft statement on Sunday does not indicate this but but Kevin Johnson's memo certainly does.

"As announced earlier today, we are also considering new alternatives for a transaction with Yahoo! which do not involve a full acquisition. At this time, we have not made a new bid to acquire all of Yahoo!, but we reserve the right to reconsider that alternative depending on future developments and discussions that may take place with Yahoo!, shareholders of Yahoo! or Microsoft, or with other third parties."

Ballmer and Gates insisted publicly that the deal with Yahoo is dead. Microsoft continues to claim that a "full" acquisition is not going to happen.

Doth protest too much, et tu brute?

Seems like MicroHoo version 1.0 is back on track ...
