Another funny note is the evaluations these companies are getting. A buddy and I started a slideshow tool a few years back <a href='mypicpals.com' rel="nofollow">mypicpals.com</a>. We have a system that can scale to millions of users running on a single server. One feature is an advanced titling tool not in other slideshow webjits. Our user base is growing and we are just reaching profitability. All of this has been built in our spare time without funding.
