there never was a 'web 2.0' that was a hype created by tim o' reilly (publisher) to sell his conferences

the web always has evolved and always will

as for arrington, he made a living off 'web 2.0' hype, now he can return to mcdonalds

well, if there's one thing we can count on in this whole thing is that people aren't going to stop google'ing our names when they want to know something about us, folks probably aren't going to stop using online ads (vs. the newspaper) and kids certainly aren't going to stop looking stuff up online unless someone cuts the broadband.

So, maybe we'll see a grinding halt to the development of new Web 2.0 stuff. And that may, in turn, stimulate some of the other Web 2.0 stuff--the stuff that has no business model--to come up with a real, working business model...

then again, maybe I'm just a Pollyanna about all this and maybe a degree in Library Science is the way to go.

[...] Random Feed wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerptAs the economy continues its very drastic downward slide–part of a binge and purge cycle that is almost classic in its psychology–it is, of course, no surprise to see Web 2.0 finally wise up. While the quarter-dropping-in-the-slot was a bit slow, I think no one now doubts the impact of the tech and Internet business, going forward, from large companies to small start-ups, and all the rest of the ecosystem that relies on the virtuous circle of digital life.
