It was delightful to see Bill and Steve sharing a stage and reminiscing about their stuff, but I was surprised that Bill (gadgets) and Steve (widgets) didn’t settle the debate about the original inventor of the widget.

One can never have too many widgets. Somebody codes something you never even dreamed of wanting - suddenly everybody

Kara:

I beg to differ. While I agree that Yang is incapable of making a decision, one of my many problems with Yang was that one of the few decisions he actually made, was profoundly wrong, and profoundly wrong for all of the wrong reasons. As CEO his job was to watch out for shareholder value. And while his mantra throughout was always about "maximizing value" his biggest decision was to remain independant, despite the nearly $50 billion dollars on the table. For a guy adverse to making decisions, he made the wrong one and stuck with it for the wrong reasons. It was pure ego and arrogance, and it cost us dearly.

I also never bought Yang's BS about MSFT not being fully behind their offer. Yang doesn't seem to understand that in the real world when real CEO's make decisions they act on them in real time. MSFT made the offer early Feburary, whereas Yang was still adopting posion pills and fumbling around in June. How long exactly did he expect MSFT to wait? Unfortuantely for us, Yang didn't do many things well and over stayed his welcome by a fair amount. It's unlikely given the economic turn about that we'll ever recapture what Yang's ego and arrogance cost us. Even now, the mild rise in stock price has subsided, and the reality of how badly Yang damaged the company is setting in on Wall Street.
