It was delightful to see Bill and Steve sharing a stage and reminiscing about their stuff, but I was surprised that Bill (gadgets) and Steve (widgets) didn’t settle the debate about the original inventor of the widget.

One can never have too many widgets. Somebody codes something you never even dreamed of wanting - suddenly everybody

Yahoo got started as a search engine in the mid nineties on a server at stanford named akebono.stanford.edu

to write that yahoo's acquisition of inktomi in 2003 got Yahoo into the search business is grossly revisionist

Having narrowed their YHOO focus from acquisition to a search-only BD deal, MSFT is now piling on the pressure. Not surprising that a principal search exec would consider leaving after watching YHOO's attempts to outsource his job to GOOG. A supposedly savvy internet brand, YHOO needs to re-value options and stem the exodus as whole capabilities are walking and its strategy is now being dictated.
