It was delightful to see Bill and Steve sharing a stage and reminiscing about their stuff, but I was surprised that Bill (gadgets) and Steve (widgets) didn’t settle the debate about the original inventor of the widget. One can never have too many widgets. Somebody codes something you never even dreamed of wanting - suddenly everybody lig tv izle bedava ligtv izle garibim deyimler şiir türleri çet chat sohbet needs a whole bunch of widgets because they don’t impinge too much on the screen/template real estate.

Kara, this piece on Braun was about as interesting as peanut styrofoam. And it was about 90% too long.

I think you’ve spent way too much time covering Yahoo and now don’t know what else to do so you’ve taken to re-writing stories from 2005 about Yahoo.

Doesn’t anyone at WSJ edit your stuff? Or provide a check and balance for this drivel?

In the old days journalists had to have editors approve something to make sure it was reader worthy.

Having worked closely with Lloyd at Yahoo, (full disclosure–I was his first outside executive hire) I can state categorically that he was an asset to the company. In many ways, Yahoo’s current leadership in the media categories where it competes traces to Lloyd’s tenure. His creative spirit and desire to push the online medium to new heights drove innovation and challenged all of us to think differently about the medium. No one is perfect and Lloyd has his flaws, as do we all. The culture clash you document was (and is) real. But Lloyd set the table for the incredible run Yahoo has enjoyed in its online media properties over the past three years. The results over that period speak for themselves and stand out as a key strength for the company in terms of audience engagement and profits.

And in spite of the “culture war” that ultimately led him to leave, I’ve never had a better boss than Lloyd. He always had my back and at the same time pushed me and the team to aim high and break new ground.

That might be true or not that he was not the right person to lead that division, but those stories are simply overblown.

I have no idea what the “spirit” of a stories means, but factually he did not do the things in that article.

There other execs at Yahoo whose antics could be made into a caricature, and it would also not be fair.

I think your issue is with Terry and his choices, but that’s a strategy issue and not about parking spaces and stolen umbrellas.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment. Lloyd was different than a typical Yahoo and by no means perfect (who is at Yahoo, as it has turned out?). But the issues are larger here about what Yahoo wanted to be then and wants to be now.
