I'm stilling looking for the name of a Fortune 500 company that was founded by a post 1990 H1B. How about a tangible technological artifact that was invented in India?

She said there are four things I want you to make sure you understand are a priority: science, science, science, and science. I was awake by the end of the fourth science for sure, and I couldn’t agree more wholeheartedly ... but I say the four priorities are design, design, design, design. We all have dreams of what could happen or should happen in the future but until it is designed it stays a dream. The design of the iPhone is an example.

Yes, Steve was the innovator at Apple, we hope it continues.
RCA failed to innovate.
I forgot Google and HP, start-ups (Carly got fired for buying Compaq instead of innovating within IMO).

Was Vista innovation? (remember the innovative win98?) Would a start-up gotten away with that?
Investors have not profited since Ballmer was put in charge.

Microsoft the poster childs for requesting H-1B Visa's, was an insult to be speaking to the Democrats!

I like Ballmer. He has the job of running the biggest software companies in the world and he is trying to act down to earth about doing it. Its easy to be critical from the sidelines. But I will say hes got a tough road ahead, Google is just the tip of the iceberg!

Innovation is not just a startup monopoly. Think about IBM and the PC , RCA and the television, Apple and the Iphone. These are no startups but large corporations that spent money on research and development. What Steve says in the speech above is so true. I dont think Windows is an innovation nor do i think it is a superior OS compared to say the flexibility of Linux. But what the Windows OS has done is make it easier for the PC revolution to spread. My dad would rather use a windows pc than handle a Linux Desktop, now Mac's ..well thats a whole different ballgame. i bet he would love one.
Thanks for posting this Kara . i for one thing Steve gets it this time.

Thanks for posting the speech, but what a snoozer. The guy just doesn't get it. He didn't understand the point from the Bill Gates sticky notes.

Innovation comes from start-ups.
Microsoft, Dell, Apple, ISS, Myspace, Facebook. Until they are bought up, is what is needed.
Again and again.

Ballmer missed an opportunity to impress the crowd. Imagine what would have happened if he showed his checkbook and offered to fund and finance start-ups in Michigan and Ohio (anywhere outside of the Valley)

Microsoft became big by taking out competition. The wrong speaker at the wrong time.

Thanks for posting this. It makes me feel better about Microsoft, Ballmer, and what goes on at Congressional retreats. Ballmer knows what's going on here.
