Google should be allowed to purchase AdMob

What is so anti-trust about this deal? This deal helps Google extend its core functions into an area that is definitely relevant to their business.

What we have here is a nascent company that is beginning to look promising. Google is likely overpaying for the company the same way they did for YouTube. But this company is more about what is innate to Google - which is advertising, as opposed to YouTube - which is all about content. With YouTube, Google is hosting the content; but with advertising, Google is simply pointing to the content.

[...] Still, there does seem to be a basic pattern in the deals Google has made so far. Two patterns, actually. Either it is picking up talent, regardless of the company’s success to date — a good example here might be ad optimization startup Teracent — or it’s looking for a market leader in a market it hasn’t solved yet — that would be the smartphone ad guys at AdMob.
