Facebook’s Privacy Chief (And California Attorney General Candidate) Chris Kelly Speaks!

BoomTown tried to get Chris Kelly to give up more during an onstage interview I did with the Facebook chief privacy officer last night at the third “Tech Policy Summit” and was only moderately successful in the endeavor.

Oh he is a smoothie all right, as a lawyer and now as a wannabe politician.

Kelly–who is still working at the social-networking site, where his job is to make sure consumer data, privacy, the children and CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s reputation are all safe and sound–is also running for the job of California’s attorney general.

Yahoo Annual Meeting Countdown (4 Days to Go!): Who Will Be the New Board Members?

Well, it will not be nearly as interesting as it would have been had activist shareholder Carl Icahn been attacking full-throttle in a proxy fight.

But Yahoo’s annual meeting on Friday will be more of a humdinger than usual.

So many moving parts, including who, who, who will Yahoo and Icahn decide on for the two other new board members besides Icahn?

Actually, BoomTown mostly wants to know who gets to sit next to Icahn at the first board meeting. I vote Yahoo CEO Jerry Yang!

Harvard Dropout Zuckerberg Feted by, Well, Harvard!

Oh the sweet irony of Facebook Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg getting awarded a big round glass object, suitable for mantel-showing-off, from Harvard types.

Especially since he is now the school’s second most famous tech mogul dropout–after Microsoft’s Bill Gates.

But that was the case last night at the San Francisco Airport Hyatt Regency, where the 24-year-old Zuckerberg collected the 30th Entrepreneurial Company of the Year Award from the Harvard Business School Association of Northern California.
