Coming to a Web Site Near You (This One): The Entire D7 Interview and Demo Sessions

d71

Tomorrow, just two weeks after it took place, All Things Digital will start posting the full sessions of the recent seventh D: All Things Digital conference.

We could not accommodate everyone who wanted to come in person, so you have already lost the opportunity to annoy major tech and media moguls and my mother all in one place (although Mission Accomplished! for BoomTown), but will be able to see all the content onstage here, in its entirety, on ATD, in the exact order we put on the show at the conference.

As a primer, here’s News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch and singer Jill Sobule opening the show.

Who Will Be the New Yahoo Execs? (BoomTown Nominates Martha Stewart)

2007_08_09-marth-wired

When she reorganized the Yahoo management ranks three weeks ago, Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz left some glaring empty spaces in her management chart, including for a chief financial officer, the top international exec and a new post for a customer advocacy czar.

So, who should get the nod for each? But might BoomTown suggest closet geek and good-thing expert Martha Stewart for Yahoo’s consumer guru?

Maybe the Feds Can Diagnose What Ails Apple and Steve Jobs (and Whether It Matters or Not)

Early this morning, Bloomberg reported that regulators are looking into Apple’s disclosures about the health–or lack thereof–of its iconic CEO Steve Jobs.

And while BoomTown has railed against the creepy obsession the media have had with Jobs’s health and the publishing of rumors and innuendos about it as fact without a whole lot of reporting, I hope it is true.

It is also entirely appropriate that the government agency charged with keeping an eye on public companies does investigate–at the very least, to get the story right.

Microsoft’s Project Granola–Facebook Tastier Than Yahoo?

Project Granola?

Apparently, that’s the jokey nickname that’s been given by some in the company to Microsoft’s new online strategy, in the wake of its failed efforts to acquire Yahoo that ended in a big heap of mess this past weekend.

Now, sources tell BoomTown, it is all about “organic”–hence the image of a healthy handful of granola (except for the fact that, in my experience, nobody really likes granola after eating it as much as they think will before).

Marthapedia–It’s a User-Generated Thing!

Incredibly, it is the 25th anniversary of Martha Stewart’s first big splash with her iconic book, “Entertaining,” which pretty much ushered in the boom in lifestyle content.

While Stewart is known for her focus on home-making skills, some might not know that she is also a bit of a geek, who has been a fixture [...]

Intentional Software Founder and Space Tourist Charles Simonyi: The Entire D5 Interview With Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher

Charles Simonyi was out of this world onstage, literally.
The early top Microsoft exec, who more recently founded Intentional Software, boldly went where few had gone before, by taking a ride into space. As one of the first space tourists, he spent 11 days on board the International Space Station earlier this year.
Oh, also, good friend [...]

Martha Gets Wired

BoomTown has long been a big fan of Martha Stewart.
And we like her 25% more now, after seeing the new pictures she took for Wired’s latest issue, as well as a particularly sassy interview she did with the magazine.

The homemaking empress is on the cover of Wired, pictured here making a Wii-shaped cake. It looks [...]
