Loves It: Life Was Better When Martin Sheen Was “Fake” President (We’re Not So Sure About Paris, Though)

Famous-for-being-famous celebrity Paris Hilton continues her comic run for “fake” President of the United States, with a new online video for the Funny or Die comedy site.

In the latest, Hilton consults the most famous of fake Presidents, actor Martin Sheen, who played President Jed Bartlett for many seasons on the NBC hit “The West Wing.”

BoomTown really misses C.J. and the rest of the team.

Kung-Fu Election: Biden Versus Palin!

BoomTown admits herewith that I am a teenage boy, given how much I really like Atom’s Kung-Fu Election site, an online fighting game for the general election.

In advance of tonight’s much-anticipated debate between the vice-presidential candidates–Democratic Sen. Joe Biden and Republican Gov. Sarah Palin–here’s a video of them duking it out digitally in hiiii-ya style.

Let’s hope the verbal sparring to come is as gripping.

As Promised–Tina Fey as Sarah Palin as Tina Fey…

While you might have seen it everywhere by now, BoomTown promised this would actually be the last post of the multitude of video spoofs about Alaska Governor and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin that have popped up on the Web of late.

Thus, here is Tina Fey’s version–which, as I expected, is the best–of Palin on “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend. She is joined by Amy Poehler, who does a perfect slow-burn impression of New York Senator Hillary Clinton.

It will doubtless be the most popular video online this week.

The Very Last Online Sarah Palin Spoof We’ll Post (Until the Tina Fey One, Of Course)

Last week, BoomTown posted just some of the many, many online video spoofs of Alaska Governor and Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Gov. Palin, one of the more colorful political figures to pop up in years, is like the gift that keeps on giving to the Web comedy world, which seems to be churning out video after video of mock impersonations of her.

Here’s the best I have seen so far, by well-known actress Gina Gershon–who actually looks like her–on the most excellent Funny or Die comedy Web site.

Replay: The D5 Interview With Sen. John McCain

Last night, Arizona Sen. John McCain officially accepted the GOP candidacy for President in a speech in which he pushed himself as a change agent, even though the Republicans have been in power for eight years.

Actually, the maverick image was one of the reasons we invited him to our fifth D: All Things Digital conference in 2007.

Since the speech last night had more generalities than specifics, as convention speeches often do, here’s an hour-plus interview with Sen. McCain by Walt Mossberg and me.

The Online Governator: Sarah Palin Video Mashups

After her stemwinder of a speech, where Republican vice presidential candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin finally broke her silence of the last week in an edgy address at the party’s convention, it seems like a good time to peruse some of the many Palin-focused videos popping up on the Web.

No surprise–most are comical spoofs of the colorful politician, but there are all kinds. Then again, Palin seems a quip machine, and in her speech last night she managed to call herself a pit bull with lipstick.

Hillary + Barack + Microsoft + Yahoo = W*A*S*H

So, as is BoomTown’s patriotic duty, I was watching the returns come in from Pennsylvania in the draggy war that has become the quest for the Democratic presidential candidate nomination between Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, as I also pondered what would happen next in the even draggier Microsoft (MSFT)-Yahoo (YHOO) takeover battle.
Then a [...]
