Viral Video: Clinton’s Diplomacy in the Conan-Newark Mayor Feud

cnew

It looks like Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will have her hands full with pretty dicey nuclear and terrorism issues in North Korea and Pakistan this week, but she managed to find time last week to try her diplomatic hand at working out the state of emergency between late-night television talk show host Conan O’Brien and Newark Mayor Cory Booker.

Here are the videos.

Here’s the latest Internet sensation that spoofs Beyoncé’s “All the Single Ladies” hit music video.

Viral Video: Megan Fox and Her Transformer Friends at Home

transformers2empireusaversion

Here’s one of the many funny videos from this week’s “Saturday Night Live” 35th season opener, hosted by “Transformers” starlet Megan Fox.

Of course, the video features her in a spoof of the silly action movie, although this one is much more entertaining than the real thing.

Viral Video: Twitteleh, Yet Another Twitter Parody Has Wings

twitteleh2

Since it debuted last week, a spoof video for Twitteleh is rising fast, with close to 200,000 views on YouTube.

It’s one of the many parodies of the popular microblogging service, Twitter, which attracts them the way it attracts valuation-mad VCs.

Viral Video: Mad (Wo)Men

mm

Suddenly, it seems the AMC series about a 1960s advertising agency in New York, “Mad Men,” is having its “Sopranos” moment–with its stars all over the media, its fans more obsessive than ever, its ratings doubled in its third season and a renewal for a fourth season just today.

So, of course, there are also spoofs galore online too, some pretty elaborate, such as this one with a gender switcheroo. Fascinatingly, it still works.

Microsoft’s Vision of the Future–and the Inevitable Spoof

worldofthefuturecover-1

One of my favorite “world-of-the-future” videos recently has been one done by Microsoft Office Labs, because it does not seem ridiculously fanciful or impossible to imagine actually happening sooner than much later.

But, of course, the folks at IGN.com’s Sarcastic Gamer managed to find the perfect way to poke fun at the video in a spoof that hit the target deftly.

Even Better: The JK Divorce Dance

938-010divorce-posters

Earlier today, BoomTown posted on the difficulty of making scratch off of popular online videos, including the Jill and Kevin wedding dance video.

Here’s an inevitable spoof about the divorce dance, six months later.

At least someone’s going to pay up!

Viral Video: Twitter TRACKER Massacres Blue Birdies on CoCo’s Tonight Show

tt3

Even if it never makes any money, Twitter certainly does provide fabulous material for television spoofs.

So far, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have done several funny bits on Comedy Central, deftly mocking the microblogging service.

And now, Conan O’Brien is doubling down with two skits so far dubbed “Twitter TRACKER” on “The Tonight Show.”

In them, a loudmouthed voice delivers pointless celebrity tweets as a flock of blue cartoon Twitter birdies is murdered in various ingenious ways.

How to Lose Online Fans and Influence Nobody: A Jonas Brothers’ Viral Video Falls Flat, But Facebook Live Today!

jonas_brothers_lines_vines_and_trying_times_album_coverjpg

A lot of entertainers have been using the Web increasingly to promote upcoming material, so it comes as no surprise that the Jonas Brothers have turned there aggressively to do a countdown for their latest music release.

The new album, which is inexplicably called “Lines, Vines and Trying Times,” is set to debut next week.

Thus, the pop trio have been doing a lot of online promotions, such a live Facebook Webcast on their fan page today.

Unfortunately, the digital hawking also include a very odd YouTube video, which is due to some fan request that has landed Joe Jonas in spike heels and a leotard, doing a bizarre dance interpretation of Beyoncé’s viral music video, “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).”

A Gathering Storm of Viral Videos on Gay Marriage!

gaythering2

The issue of gay marriage is always good for controversy and lots and lots of rancorous lobbying on both sides of the issue. These days, of course, that includes a battle of online videos.

The latest two are dueling it out on the issue, using a menacing storm as the theme, one quite serious and the other not at all, since it includes a giant gay repellent umbrella.

Watch them both here.

Finally, a Reason to Bring a Little More Lindsanity to BoomTown

u740-homejpg

Whatever her personal turmoil, troubled actress Lindsay Lohan–aka Lindsanity–has been the patron saint of the Web’s gossip sites, as well as magazines and more, most recently for the spectacular and restraining-orders-all-around breakup she has had with DJ Samantha Ronson.

So where did Lohan go to get some control of the crazed situation back?

Why the Internet, of course, with a pretty funny video of a spoof of an eHarmony online dating ad that is now a big hit on the comedy Web site, Funny or Die.

Viral Video: Forget Twitter, Google–How About Acquiring Nanoblogger Flutter?

flutter2

On Friday, amid all the hoopla around acquisition rumors swirling around Twitter, Slate put out a very funny spoof on a fictional new service called Flutter.

The online magazine’s mockumentary about a nanoblogging service is definitely more amusing than contemplating the fate of the real-life microblogging service.

It’s mascot, of course, is a hummingbird and its 26-character messages are called “flaps.”

Here’s one heck of a rumor: BoomTown is in “late-stage” discussions to buy it.

Is There Some Plum, Oops, I Mean Apple Event Today in San Francisco?

Even without Apple CEO Steve Jobs, there will be copious amounts of live coverage of Macworld’s keynote by Apple SVP Phil “No-Black-Turtleneck” Schiller all over the tech sites online in T-minus nine hours and counting.

And, guess what? All Things Digital will be there too, with the intrepid reporting duo of Digital Daily’s John Paczkowski on text and our Webmaster (and not-so-secret Mac fanboy) Adam Tow on photos.

The $23.45 question: Will the not-prone-yet Jobs make a surprise cameo appearance?

Though just posted on the Funny or Die comedy Web site, a new online video spoof on California’s Proposition 8 has already garnered almost one million views.

Digital Signpost Up Ahead? You Are Now Entering the “Twilight” Zone of Inevitable Online Video Spoofs

As BoomTown expected, the popularity of the chaste-yet-lustful vampire movie for screaming teen girls everywhere, “Twilight,” has inspired more online video spoofs than you can shake a braided rope of garlic at.

Rabid fans of Stephenie Meyer’s vampire book series flew into theaters all weekend, adding up to a $70.5 million U.S. box office tally so far.

Thus, we are in for more online videos in praise and in mockery of Edward and Bella than perhaps even Alaska Governor Sarah Palin engendered.
