Digital Signpost Up Ahead? You Are Now Entering the “Twilight” Zone of Inevitable Online Video Spoofs

As BoomTown expected, the popularity of the chaste-yet-lustful vampire movie for screaming teen girls everywhere, “Twilight,” has inspired more online video spoofs than you can shake a braided rope of garlic at.

Rabid fans of Stephenie Meyer’s vampire book series flew into theaters all weekend, adding up to a $70.5 million U.S. box office tally so far.

Thus, we are in for more online videos in praise and in mockery of Edward and Bella than perhaps even Alaska Governor Sarah Palin engendered.

Will Ferrell as Dubya (on the Hot Lady and the Tiger Woods Guy)

Here is the latest “Saturday Night Live” political video, with Will Ferrell reprising his excellent take on President George W. Bush, along with Tina Fey as Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, in a version of the endorsement of Sen. John McCain.

Once again, it is likely to be more popular online than on television, as it has been for all of the sketches, a striking trend for the long-running comedy show.

Boybama: Bizarrely Addictive

Saturday night was all Sarah Palin’s, after the Alaska governor and Republican VP candidate appeared on “Saturday Night Live” with a classy comic turn.

Now, the Democratic side–which has been overwhelmingly more active in creating funny online videos–is back with yet another political spoof: a boy band called, of course, Boybama.

Political Video of the Day: Sarah Silverman’s Great Schlep

Is there anything comic Sarah Silverman will not say?

Apparently not, from this aggressively pro-Sen. Barack Obama video that has become a huge hit on the Web, called “The Great Schlep.”

In it, the viciously funny Silverman plans to blame–I am not kidding–old Jewish grandparents–if Democratic nominee Obama loses the Presidential election.

Thus, she plots revenge.

Loves It: Life Was Better When Martin Sheen Was “Fake” President (We’re Not So Sure About Paris, Though)

Famous-for-being-famous celebrity Paris Hilton continues her comic run for “fake” President of the United States, with a new online video for the Funny or Die comedy site.

In the latest, Hilton consults the most famous of fake Presidents, actor Martin Sheen, who played President Jed Bartlett for many seasons on the NBC hit “The West Wing.”

BoomTown really misses C.J. and the rest of the team.

Okay, Tina Fey’s Return as Sarah Palin Is Too Adorkable to Resist…

How did we miss this one from Saturday Night Live this past weekend?

If you are feeling bad about the tech stock meltdown yesterday, this spoof–the second hysterical one–video by Tina Fey as Alaska Governor and Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin will make you feel much better.

“The Dark Knight”: Joker Impressions Abound Online

Here’s a curious trend I’ve noticed developing quickly on YouTube, probably because of the acclaim that the late actor Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker in “The Dark Knight” has garnered.

His memorably malevolent turn in the latest Batman movie is likely to result in a posthumous Oscar for Ledger. But perhaps more interesting is the number of fans who are doing video impressions of his performance, acting out various scenes from the movie, and posting them online in tribute.

That’s Hot: Paris Hilton Strikes Back at the “White-Haired Dude”

In a tempest-in-a-teapot political scandalette, Republican Presidential candidate Sen. John McCain used images of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears in a television ad attacking his Democratic opponent, Sen. Barack Obama, as a celebrity.

It was tasteless and also offensive to Hilton and Spears, which seems an almost impossible task–way to go!

Now, wasting no time in taking advantage of the brouhaha and drawing attention just where it should be–to herself, of course–Hilton did this clever video spoof for the Funny or Die comedy Web site.

BoomTown Has No Idea What a Julia Allison Actually Is, But NomSociety Cracks Me Up!

I’ll admit, if asked and my life depended on it, BoomTown could not tell you what the bizarre Web 2.0 phenomenon of Julia Allison is exactly.

I would hazard a guess, if pressed, which would be: Geek- pretending “Gossip Girl.”

Hey, I am not trying to be snotty either, as I totally get the pretty girl flouncing about and giggling in an online video thing, especially if you throw in an iPhone or two.

But this spoof video about her is definitely entertaining.

JibJab’s Latest Election Video: “Time for Some Campaignin’”

Here’s the latest election spoof video from the folks at JibJab Media, called “Time for Some Campaignin.’”

At the end of the video, BoomTown included the face of our favorite Internet CEO under siege, getting kicked around by politicians–and not billionaire investors and software giants–for a change. (Customizing faces is an option on all JibJab’s Sendables products.)

Weepy Singer John Mayer Is Actually Funny

While I sometimes want to throttle him for his more cloying songs, like the agonizing “Your Body Is a Wonderland,” it’s clear John Mayer has a good sense of humor about his image.
The smoky-eyed singer-songwriter and guitarist, who also has yet to meet a Hollywood actress he doesn’t date (current date: Jennifer Aniston!), just released [...]

Grand Theft Volvo

This is an hysterical spoof video, by “Late Night” host Conan O’Brien, with a very sanitized version of Grand Theft Auto IV.
The new version of the ultra-violent videogame came out this week, to rave reviews.
I would rather play this, as I have taken that crazy right on red on the way to my kid’s [...]

Apple Earnings Coming, So Watch iJustine Mocking Madonna While You Wait!

What will be the news of how many Macs were sold in the recent quarter (2 million? More?!?), which will be revealed when Apple (AAPL) announces its earnings this afternoon?
And, even if sales are soaring, iPod sales don’t slow as much as expected and the 3G iPhone looks tasty, the stock still might not get [...]

Microsoft Surface Surfaces at AT&T Stores

Don’t miss this video below from WSJ.com last week about AT&T (T) stores using Microsoft’s (MSFT) Surface table-sized touch computer to help customers, which is one of the first commercial applications of the device.
Surface actually got a demo at our D5 conference last May, but BoomTown has been partial to this very funny video spoof [...]
