Kara Visits Mozilla HQ!

Before John Lilly got the CEO job at Mozilla, I had visited the HQ of the the open-source software nonprofit foundation (and, at the same time, a for-profit startup)–famous for its increasingly popular Firefox browser and red dragon logo–on Landings Drive in Mountain View.

I toured the place and took video note of a freakishly large sculpture made of soda cans and the biggest couch I have ever seen. In other words, just another typical Silicon Valley company.

SmartNow’s Julie Wainwright Speaks!

Recently, Julie Wainwright came to visit AllThingsD HQ (also known as BoomTown’s abode) to talk about her newest venture. SmartNow.com, focused on women, 35 to 55.

Wainwright, as most people know, was the former CEO of Web 1.0’s most memorable flameout–Pets.com.

Nonetheless, the longtime Web exec has just launched SmartNow.com.

BoomTown Went to the TechCrunch40 Conference and All You Get Is This Lousy Video

While we subjected our stalwart John Paczkowski of Digital Daily to the onerous and potentially mind-numbing task of live-blogging Jason Calacanis’s and Michael Arrington’s TechCrunch40 conference, BoomTown broke some news (on the Yahoo-Zimbra $350 million deal), wandered around and basically schmoozed.
