This week, “Saturday Night Live” reprised one of its better skits, “The Rock Obama,” spoofing the health-care debate.

In it, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson does to some politicians just what a lot of us would like to do.

Viral Video: Clinton’s Diplomacy in the Conan-Newark Mayor Feud

cnew

It looks like Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will have her hands full with pretty dicey nuclear and terrorism issues in North Korea and Pakistan this week, but she managed to find time last week to try her diplomatic hand at working out the state of emergency between late-night television talk show host Conan O’Brien and Newark Mayor Cory Booker.

Here are the videos.

Viral Video: Mad (Wo)Men

mm

Suddenly, it seems the AMC series about a 1960s advertising agency in New York, “Mad Men,” is having its “Sopranos” moment–with its stars all over the media, its fans more obsessive than ever, its ratings doubled in its third season and a renewal for a fourth season just today.

So, of course, there are also spoofs galore online too, some pretty elaborate, such as this one with a gender switcheroo. Fascinatingly, it still works.

Viral Video: Here’s a Convincing Plug for Social Media–Still Not Much Beef, But It’s Tasty

socialnomics-book-cover-3d-l-small1

Here is a slick video about social media that looks at its impact and quick influence, all of which is true, although it does manage to leave out the very pertinent question of whether or not it makes any money or not (because most of it does not yet, of course).

It begins by asking: “Is Social Media a Fad?”

More like a financial dud so far–but, in any case, it is a very fun watch. Created by Socialnomics, a blog by Erik Qualman covering social media, it is also a book that is now coming out.

Viral Videos: Something Old, Something New–But Still, Dancing Babies

dancingbaby

Here’s a new video that has been making the rounds recently featuring “Roller Babies,” which is essentially a computer-generated bunch of babies on skates doing a rap number.

It’s a commercial for Evian Water, but BoomTown laughs every time I look at it anyway–probably because it reminds me of the most famous of all viral videos on the Internet: The Dancing Baby of 1997.

It has now garnered 3.8 million views on YouTube, as well as now officially becoming an infomercial itself.

Here’s the viral online video, along with another Porter did a month later for the legendary ShamWow.

Viral Video: Next Week on “Entourage”…The Exact Same Plot, Over and Over

entouragejpg

Why can’t BoomTown stop watching the dopey machinations of the boys of “Entourage”?

Because, it’s always more of the same on the popular HBO show, which is oddly comforting–a revelation that College Humor mocks perfectly in a very funny online video called “Every Week on Entourage.”

“So many twists and turns, you’ll forget they’ve been using the same formula for five seasons,” explains the humor site.

Viral Video: Twitter TRACKER Massacres Blue Birdies on CoCo’s Tonight Show

tt3

Even if it never makes any money, Twitter certainly does provide fabulous material for television spoofs.

So far, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have done several funny bits on Comedy Central, deftly mocking the microblogging service.

And now, Conan O’Brien is doubling down with two skits so far dubbed “Twitter TRACKER” on “The Tonight Show.”

In them, a loudmouthed voice delivers pointless celebrity tweets as a flock of blue cartoon Twitter birdies is murdered in various ingenious ways.
