Dear Yahoo Board: C’mon, Get On With It (A CEO by Tomorrow Would Be Good)

BoomTown’s got nothing, which is not something I like to say very much.

I am talking about the Yahoo CEO search, which is either being done by the Internet giant’s board in such elegant secrecy and with such amazing stealth that it is getting by everyone.

That or it’s business as usual for the Yahoo board, which so far has never met a challenge for the company it could not drag out painfully and with great public dithering.

Ex-Yahoos Weigh In on Their Choices for New Yahoo CEO

With so many more ex-Yahoos out there now, BoomTown put out feelers to a range of them to ask whom they would like to run the company they no longer work for. After all, who better than to pick a new CEO than an ex? The response was swift and varied wildly, depending on which way the ex-Yahoo felt the company should go, from a basic turnaround expert to–drum roll, please–his digital Holiness, Steve Jobs of Apple. No kidding.

Kara Visits PICNIC in Amsterdam (and Hopes Head Does Not Explode)

BoomTown is now right next to a canal–no falling cows in sight!–in Amsterdam, here for an unusual digital conference called PICNIC, which starts Wednesday and runs through Friday.

With sessions like “We Think: The Power of Mass Creativity,” “The Emerging Real-Time Social Web” and “The Future of Business Creation,” it seems to be a place for big, messy Web ideas.

But I am a little worried about keeping my head intact.

The iPhone, John Finds, Has Conquered the Monsters of European Telecom

Given the interest (some might call it obsession) we here at AllThingsD.com have shown for Apple’s iPhone (which Walt Mossberg and Katherine Boehret reviewed in The Mossberg Solution, and whose accessories Walt examines in this week’s Personal Technology column), it’s only natural that Digital Daily’s John Paczkowski would anticipate the debut of the device across the pond in Europe, where a number of carriers are reportedly in line to get distribution rights.
